We do not have the moderators to handle the massive load of submissions we get daily, therefor:

1. Global submission limit is set to 1 deviation per member a month.
2. Reference sheets folder is now closed, we do not accept reference sheets at the moment.

If you'd like to apply as a moderator, check out this journal here:…

If we don't find new moderators soon, I'll close up the submissions until we get enough or try to find another solution.

Guys, are you aware that Contributor cannot submist anythig as "the action is not permitted"...? Not: over the submission limit, but set to be banned.
Well, left, re-join as a regular member, just leaving you a note about that.

Golly gee, I wonder why :sarcasm: <---*former admin*

Forgive me. As much as I like to volunteer again, it is a thankless job filled with spiteful and disagreeable children who don't take no for an answer - or "move to a different category/Group" for that matter. Even though I have no life - not a full-time student nor a part-time minion to the man - and have ample time on my hand, being the only admin on staff while having to deal with hundreds of submissions and two hundred angry submitters can be - and has been - rather draining on my emotions, and I can't deal with that without any support, be it someone to back me up or to correct me on a mistake I might've made, especially when the policies are poorly worded or if there are exceptions to be made for certain submissions.

Admittedly, I have not been active as a Deviant through art submissions on my part, and have been prone to just lurking about, so I have no idea what has transpired in all the Groups I've volunteered for two to three years ago... but I would like some assurance that I won't be the only one who has to pick up the slack when I'm faced with a disagreeable member who won't compromise.

Yeh, it's a rough job, although some people can take the kind of emotional stress a lot better than others. It's really important to keep in mind constantly that none of the mean comments aren't actually 'aimed at you', but that can easily be sometimes forgotten.

I've been trying to brainstorm ways to lessen the amount of submissions we get and make the moderators job a lot nicer, but we are a massiveass group, it's really hard :/
Even if I limit submissions to like 5 per year we still have 5000 members who each could submit 25 000 submissions a year ._.

Another thing we could do is to center more on accepting new contributors who can submit things freely.

Actually, one of those members from a group I can't remember personally went to my gallery and left a negative comment on one of my deviations, she got so pissed off at me with my decision. I had resigned at the time, but I had to report it to the other admins about it because she could've caused additional trouble with them. I assumed she was booted out afterwards, I hope, but I just needed to get out for my sanity sake. Like I said, if I had additional support from the other admins, it wouldn't be a problem, but I could not help but feel that I was all alone in most of these processes...

There's also the problem of hitting the max deviation count and having to do a mass deletion for some of the old deviations in order to make room for new ones. A minimum limit would be prudent, but I also think that control over quality over quantity would be your best bet. It's a rather elitist rule, I know, but as you said: this is a big group, and even other groups larger than us had to implement that rule.

What about a more active go-at with contests?

Mmm some people are mean like that, and our world is full of mean people 3:

I've been coindiering more quality control too, perhaps first limit pieces that only display a character that's not really doing anything - you know most of those where we have one dog standing and just being and then the backgroud is taken off, there's just so many of them and they don't really bring people anything new to look at.

And contests are a neat idea, but we would have to have some actually cool prices to go with them too tho.

I keep hearing from others otherwise; they must be the lucky ones who get the nice ones in the millions - 8 to be exact - and we're the dung beetles of human relations with the Internet :XD: Perhaps a campaign for mood stabilizer medicine for all is in order :greeting:

I guess uniqueness would be in order rather than the usual BBCL - Boring Brown Chocolate Lab :XD:

How is not giving the prize winner a free commission from an on-demand artist not a cool prize? I'd rather that than the overdue box of chocolate I was owed for winning runner up in a contest over five years ago!

It can be hard to find an artist that's both good enough to attract lots of people to enter and have time to create the prize.

And... I find it hard to trust DA artists for creating prizes cause everysingle contest I've personally entered and won, be it first or runner up place they've never ever drawn me what they promised. :T

I'm not too keen on the DA points, either :paranoid:
Neotheta Featured By Owner Jun 28, 2015  Student Digital Artist
Nah, I'd defo not give them as they're worth pretty much nothing. Better just save any we got to perhaps someday have our group go super again.

I hope you'll find new moderators, and change the submission limit to 2/month in the future.  :)
